Kerri’s BIO

Kerri Rowland was born and raised in Milford and grew up in the Point Beach area. She played her entire youth hockey career with Southern CT from House through Bantam. In 1991, Kerri was recognized as one of the top Womens Goaltenders in the country, and was considered for selection to the the 1992 Women’s National Hockey Team. In her Senior season, she led the Eagles to the 1992 AWHCA National Championship.

Kerri started her hockey coaching career at Guilford High School as an Assistant Coach for Varsity Girl’s Hockey, spending 2 years there. Kerri then moved to Sacred Heart University Women (NCAA Div. 1), to become an Assistant Coach under Tom O’Malley for 2 years. When Notre Dame Catholic High School of Fairfield started a Girl’s Hockey program, Kerri decided to leave SHU and take over the ND program as its first Head Coach. In just its 4th season of play, the Notre Dame Girls earned a berth to their first CCGHL tournament as well as the CT State tournament. Kerri recently started her 14th season with Notre Dame, building the program to include two Assistant Coaches, as well as a team co-op with Milford, Weston, and Pomperaug high school girls on it’s roster. In the current 2019 season, the Notre Dame girls team has maintained a top 10 ranking in state standing since week 1 of the season. She is now approaching 100 career Wins for her HS head coaching career and hopes to acheive that before season’s end.  Kerri continues to maintain her Southern CT Youth Hockey coaching responsibilities, as the 19U CGHL team Head Coach.

Outside of hockey, Kerri was a long-time coach for girl’s softball in Milford Little League, leading the 9/10 District All Star team to the CT Little League District 4 Championship round in the 2008 season, ultimately finishing as Runners Up in the tournament. She was also a long-time girl’s softball umpire for the Milford and Orange area, as well as umpiring Women’s softball for the Milford Recreation Department. In her spare time, she is involved in local Milford politics having previously served on the Milford Board of Alderman. Kerri’s political career includes an unsuccessful bid for Mayor of Milford in November 2007, in which she lost to the incumbent Mayor by the narrowest margin in almost 20 years. Remaining politically active, Kerri currently serves on the Milford Park, Beach, and Recreation Commission and is the current Democrat Registrar of Voters for the City of Milford. She is also an avid golfer with numerous Women’s Club Championships to her credit at both Homewood Acres and Orange Hills golf courses.
